Dave Walter passed away in 2006. He was a talented Montana historian, researcher, writer, and teacher. Since 1979 he worked at the Montana Historical Society in Helena, and most recently served as the Society's research historian. He authored numerous books, including Montana Campfire Tales: Fourteen Historical Narratives.
