Nashville
A Photographic Journey

align= Growing up in Nashville, Bob Schatz's admiration of photography began as a small child. Before he was six, his parents discovered that he had been sneaking his father's camera. A neighbor came to the rescue with a gift of a Brownie box camera for Schatz's eighth birthday. Self-taught throughout his childhood and adolescence, he found the magic of the darkroom when his high school yearbook advisor showed him how to process film and prints. Bob attended Belmont University, where he entered prints in a statewide photography competition his sophomore year. Although he lost first place to a professor at another college, Schatz eagerly pursued his passion throughout his college years. He won "Best in Show" at the Nashville Art Directors Guild by his senior year. His photographs continue to be recognized, winning many regional and national awards.

Schatz's work is frequently seen in print and internet advertising, corporate brochures, annual reports, books, and magazines. His clientele includes Time magazine, McMillian Publishing, Honeywell International, HCA, and many others. His artworks have been exhibited around the country and are included in the permanent collections of museums, corporations, and private collectors.
