"The Clyde Parke Miniature Circus, circa 1930, is one of the chief attractions at the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis. A 1-inch to 1-foot scale model of a traveling circus, it features a 15-foot canvas Big Top, hand-carved mechanized acrobats and horses, and a motorized grand entry parade. Its creator, Clyde Parke, saw his first circus at the age of eight. He began carving the model during the Great Depression for 'children of all ages.'"

"Visiting fans adorn the rock walls around Graceland with graffiti, or homages to 'the King.' Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Presley moved with his parents to Memphis, where he graduated from Humes High School in 1953. The rhythm and blues music that the teenaged Elvis heard along Beale Street shaped the music that he eventually recorded at the legendary Sun Records."
