"Another example of animal sign is tracks," said Mom.

"You mean footprints?" asked Michael. "Like these?"

"Very good," said Mom. "It looks like we found signs of a marmot!"

"A what?" Michael wanted to know.

"A marmot," said Mom. "They're related to woodchucks. The ones you'll see around here are yellow-bellied marmots."

"See, Michael," said Dad. "We don't have to get up close to an animal to learn about it. Instead of a close encounter of the scary kind, we'll have a close encounter of the poopy kind."

Everybody laughed, and Mom made a gross-out face.
