Fall has brought some wild weather to our colleagues around the country, from 80-degree temps here in Montana to Hurricane Ike’s wrath in Texas.

This month, we visit with one of our Texas photographers, offer a fabulous free recipe, introduce you to our staff, and more!

FCP: What is your favorite Austin shot?
LP: This is really difficult. You mean besides shooting the girls in bikinis at Barton Springs Pool?
My favorite city shot is probably the city skyline before dawn on page 120 (Click HERE to view). I like the lighting and, for a city, the quiet appearance. Also, the cowboy on page 45 (Click HERE to view). I was out early that morning to shoot some scenic photos on a ranch just west of Austin when this cowboy came riding up over the hill unexpectedly. I quickly grabbed some shots of him. I ran after him and got some more images, but the first few shots are my favorites.

FCP: Besides chasing down your subjects, what else have you done to capture that perfect shot?
LP: The water skier scene looks idyllic, but it was still spring and the water was very cold (Click HERE to view). My office manager volunteered to be the skier. She lasted for about three runs before becoming nearly hypothermic.

FCP: What is your favorite piece of equipment?
LP: My 4x5 film camera.
